2016 Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championships

Rain and windy conditions greeted the Tigers competing at the Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championships, held May 14th and 15th at Dillon Lake.   Rowing was rough, with strong wind gusts, testing the resolve of both rower and boat!

The Tigers proved resilient, and continued our strong showing at this extremely competitive regatta, with many crews reaching the finals on Sunday. The weekend was highlighted by the Girls Varsity Quad taking 2nd and the Boys JV Quad taking 1st place.

The strong results at Midwest qualified the Tigers for 4 crews to compete at the SRAA National Championships, the Mens and Womens Varsity Quads, the Mens JV Quad and the Womens JV 4+
will represent North Allegheny at the race held over Memorial Day weekend.

Many thanks to the Midwest regatta staff and volunteers for working through rough conditions to keep the racing going!

2016 Pittsburgh Scholastic Sprints

The stormy weather held off on Sunday as the Tigers competed in the Pittsburgh

Scholastic Sprints, hosted by Three Rivers Rowing and organized by the various

Pittsburgh clubs.

The Tigers showed their versatility, competing in a variety of races, including a singles

event. Racing was tight for most of the events, with a few half and quarter lenght boat

distances that defined the winners!

As one parent put it, "The seniors bracketed the day with gold, starting off taking 1st i...n

the mens' quad and ending with a gold in the womens' quad!" The racing in-between was

just as impressive, with many of our boats taking top place finishes throughout the day.

We even had a rower compete in the morning half-marathon, just to join us to row in the

last race of the day!

A big thanks to the coach organizers, the parents who helped at the event, and it was

nice to see the Alumni that stopped by to say hello!

2016 Dillon Lake Invitational

Mother Nature delivered a beautiful sunny day for this past saturday's Dillon Lake Invitational in Nashport, Ohio. It felt good to get out the sunscreen!

20+ teams attended this years event, and the Tigers placed well against tough competition from all over the midwest region.

One of the hottest races of the day was the Mens' Quad, with the Tigers pulling hard into the finish to take the gold by less than half a second! Our Mens' Double also advanced confidently through the semifinals to take 3rd place overall as well!

Great job to all that attended, and thanks to the parent volunteers that keep our team mobile!

The Tigers will be back on the water at this year's Pittsburgh Scholastic Sprints on May 1st.

2016 Lindamood Cup

It sure didn't feel much like spring today, as snowy and cold conditions greeted the

Tigers as they kicked off the spring season by competing at the Lindamood Cup (hosted

by the Marietta Tiger Navy).

The challenging conditions did not slow down our crew, as the Tigers captured multiple

first, second and third place finishes in both sweeping and sculling events.

Our Novice Men are building momentum, with a solid first place finish in the Novice 4+ race!

Good Job to all the rowers who participated, and many thanks to the parent volunteers
who kept the soup and mac+cheese hot to keep our rowers going on a cold day!

2016 FC - SC - PR Scrimmage

The Tigers hosted crews from Fox Chapel, Steel City and Pine Richland for a local scrimmage held at our new Montour Marina boathouse.

Unfortunately the weather was not cooperative and the event list had to be cut short,
but a number of races did occur and gave the participating crews a good chance to feel the burn of the spring sprint season!

A highlight this time of year is having our new novice crews take to the water for the first time, and given the challenging conditions they all did very well!

The Tigers officially kick off the 2016 Spring Regatta Season by competing at the Lindamood Cup Regatta in Marietta Ohio.

2015 - 2016 WINTER SEASON

"Born to Row, Forced to ERG"...

That about sums up the feelings about winter training, especially as the weather begins to warm and the crews anticipate getting back on the water!

While it is physically demanding, winter conditioning is a vital step to having a successful spring season, as it builds the strength and cardio-conditioning needed for the always competitive spring sprint season.

But Winter season is not without its own competitions, and Pittsburgh hosts 2 large ERG races, the Three Rivers Rowing Pittsburgh Sprints (a qualifier for CRASH-B's), and our own NARA Scholastic Indoor Rowing Championships.  Check out the photo album from
this years competitions!  2015 - 2016 Winter Season Photos
